Our philosophy is simple: our clients are our #1 priority. We handcraft every amplifier and speaker with top-quality components and exceptional lumber, ensuring that each Humphrey Amp is built to last and to make your favorite guitar sing.
The Humphrey Amps journey began in 2009 when Gerry Humphrey, an electrical engineer and lifelong guitarist, set out to create amplifiers that matched the beauty and craftsmanship of custom guitars. Working from our garage, Gerry combined his love for engineering and woodworking to build prototypes that would set the standard for heirloom-quality amps.
Our family has played a crucial role in our success. Gerry’s wife, Shirley, was the friendly face of Humphrey Amps for many years, working the booth at guitar shows and festivals, and helping to spread the word about our passion and dedication. Her warmth and personality were instrumental in building our reputation on the road.
In recent years, our son Jamie has taken on a significant role in the company. He joined full-time to help with production and has been heavily involved in running the business. Jamie’s contributions have been key in expanding our product offerings and ensuring that we continue to deliver the exceptional quality and sound our customers expect
Our amps have gained worldwide recognition for producing the clearest and most natural sound possible. We continue to push the boundaries of our original designs, like the Espresso 15, expanding our offerings to create more versatile products tailored to every guitarist's needs.
We’ve been honored with outstanding magazine reviews and endorsements from world-renowned artists and Grammy Award-winning guitarists. But the true icing on the cake is the response we get from customers when they experience their Humphrey Amp for the first time.
We also take on special commissions, time allowing, partnering with clients to design and build something truly unique. If you have a specific need or vision in mind, we’d love to hear from you.
